                           July 2011 Construction Updates

A lot has been happening at the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery lately! The third floor roof and walls are being built and the white paint has been removed from the bricks returning them to their natural red colour. Here are some photos to give a quick update about what has been going on with the construction.

"The power of the Arts can't be measured, bought or sold... only experienced and shared"

 - Mike Stevens, Community Chair, artist / musician.

"From dance to music, (paint to sculpture) the arts define us and cultural experiences enhance the overall human experience.

Through my work and travel I continually witness its ability to reach out and touch the hearts of people and communities in a very profound way. As a result, I am richer for these experiences and thankful to live in a community that understands this.

Every city is enriched by artistic expression. With your donation - no matter what size - this gift of culture can become the collective one that we can leave for our children and future generations" -Mike Stevens.

Special thanks to Mike Stevens who believes in the power of the arts and is a champion in our community and beyond.

Community Campaign Launching on Artwalk Weekend

Community Campaign for new Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery to be Launched at Art Walk - June 4 & 5

Having reached over 82% of its fundraising goal, the Campaign Team for the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery are now ready to approach the community and will be launching its Community Campaign during Art Walk in Downtown Sarnia on June 4.   The Community Campaign Tent will be set-up at the corner of Lochiel and Christina Streets.

"I continue to be incredibly impressed with the generosity of the people and businesses in this community, and impressed with the enthusiasm of our hard working campaign team," said Campaign Co-Chair Jim Burns.  "We need to raise just $644,000 during this final phase of the campaign to meet our $3.5 million fundraising goal."

As the community campaign launches, local community members and the gallery's corporate friends are being encouraged to make a financial pledge, or to consider holding a fundraising event in the gallery's honour. Read more...

Construction Milestones Continue at New Art Gallery

Progress is continuing on the new Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery with new construction milestones being achieved on a regular basis.

Gallery Lambton will have a new, permanent name when it opens its doors for exhibitions in 2012, thanks to a $1.5 million gift announced on December 8th, 2010, generously provided by visionaries Judith and Norman Alix.

The local residents and entrepreneurs will leave a lasting legacy for future generations of residents and tourists who will enjoy the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery in downtown Sarnia on the corner of Lochiel and Christina streets.

"We have a keen appreciation for every aspect of this project," said Norman Alix. "We believe the art gallery project is already revitalizing the downtown core, we appreciate that the building's historical facade will remain intact, and we are grateful that we can contribute to a permanent home for our community's impressive and priceless art collection." Read more about this donation.....

welcome

Welcome to the new Art Gallery of Lambton's capital campaign website! On behalf of the Campaign Team, we thank you for taking the time to visit.

Our excitement continues to grow as we progress with our $3.5 million fundraising campaign. Construction milestones are being achieved week by week, month by month, and so are our fundraising goals. Our dream of a permanent home for our priceless art collection is soon to become a reality as we begin to see the new gallery take shape in this historic block in downtown Sarnia.

Our community's dream of an outstanding cultural venue that will serve the entire region would not be possible without the generous support of the Federal and local governments, individuals, groups, and businesses throughout the province. We invite you to help us achieve our fundraising goals by making a gift to this important community project. Please feel free to contact any member of the Campaign Team, or Kirsty at the Development Office at 519 336-8127. You can also make an online donation, or access a pledge card that can be mailed to Gallery Lambton. Click on the blue Donate Now button to donate.

Again, thank you for your time and consideration,

Sylvia Foreman, Campaign Co-Chair
Jane Hunter, Campaign Co-Chair
Ariel Lyons, Campaign Co-Chair
